Money
Italy's national currency is the Euro. This makes it easy if you are traveling from other Euro-based countries.
Exchanging Money
Like everywhere else in Europe, you get the best exchange rate by using a credit card or withdrawing money from an ATM (may include fees). If you need to exchange cash, you will get the best exchange rate at banks in the city centre. I would recommend going to a few and asking what amount of Euros you would receive for a set amount of Dollars. We were able to get about 40 € more at a bank than we would from a currency exchange station.
Rome Basics
Never exchange money at an airport currency exchange! You will get ripped off with a horrible exchange rate as well as a service charge.
Bank of America offers customers free cash withdrawals from Deutsche Bank ATMs. Locate their ATMs Here.
Keeping In Touch
The easiest way to keep in touch is by going to an Internet cafe. Look around before you choose one because they vary greatly in price. A good price is about 2 € per hour or less. Some Internet places might even have Skype, a great way to make free and cheap calls to anywhere in the world.
