A Little About Spain
Spain is a country with a rich culture and history hundreds of years in the making. The country known for it’s Invincible Armada has an incredible amount to offer any traveler. From world-class museums to beautiful beaches Spain has it all. This section of the site will give you information about what to see around Spain and how to get there.
How To Get Around
There are many ways to get around Spain. The fastest way to get around, of course, is by plane. There are a few cheap airlines that fly from select cities. My experience with these airlines has been pretty good. They get you where you need to go much quicker than train or bus, but do cost a little more. The same companies also have flights out of Spain. I took flights to Portugal and Italy, both on budget airlines. The airlines I have experience with include Vueling, Ryanair, and Easyjet. Another way to travel is by bus. This is my preferred way to travel within Spain. Bus is by far the cheapest way to travel throughout Spain. It tends to be about half the price of train travel and a quarter of the price of air travel. If you don’t mind a little longer of a trip, this is for you. The bus is great because you can leave in the middle of the night and wake up in a new city. This allows you to save money by sleeping on the bus rather than in a hostel or hotel. For information on travel times to specific cities and which bus company serves them, check their respective pages by clicking their names at the top of this page. The last way to travel in Spain is by train. While I never personally traveled by train in Spain, friends of mine have. During my research in planning trips in Spain I found that traveling by train tends to be more expensive than bus. However, it is a great option if you already have a Eurail pass. It generally takes about the same time as the bus. I hear it is a little bit more comfortable but you do pay a difference in price. Renfe is the national train company and a link to their web page is on the Helpful Links page.

Spain has something for everyone. If it’s art you love, you can’t miss Madrid. It is home to 3 of the best museums in the world. If you love Picasso you need to make a trip down to Malaga, the city of his birth. There is also a great Picasso museum in Barcelona that is worth a couple hours.

If you are like me and love architecture, Spain has just what you’re looking for. Make your way around the country for great architecture in each city. The architecture of Spain is very diverse thanks to influences of many different groups, such as the Christians and the Moors. In the south the Moorish influence is very strong and you can find architectural gems such as the Alhambra. Barcelona is a must see for architecture lovers. The famous architect Gaudi’s work is all over the vibrant city.
If you are looking to soak up some sun, Spain has many beautiful beaches just for you.
