Italy is world famous for it's fine cuisine. But don't go there expecting to find Americanized Italian Food. If you're like me and are looking to eat well for the least amount of money possible, I recommend eating pizza and panini (sandwiches) and of course Gelato. Pizza and sandwiches are generally very inexpensive and can be found almost anywhere in the city. Whatever you do, DO NOT eat lunch near any major attractions. You are sure to get ripped off if you eat in the touristic centers of the city. I recommend venturing off the tourist path and trying to find some local restaurants. If you see a restaurant filled with locals, you can probably bet the food is good. This is a great way to get excellent Italian food for a fraction of the price.
What To Eat In Rome

from the busy travel schedule.
Never eat near major tourist attractions. The cheapest and best restaurants are off the tourist trail and will be filled with local Italians.
